About Buckwheat ExpressThe Preston County Commission operated the public transit program until Preston County Senior Citizens, Inc. assumed operations in 1989. At that time, there were 4 vehicles in operation. Today Preston County Senior Citizens, Inc. operates the county’s rural transit services, Buckwheat Express and maintains a fleet of twenty-one vehicles to serve the transportation needs of Preston County residents. The fleet is comprised of 23-passenger buses, 12-passenger vans, minivans, and 4 wheel drive utility vehicles. In 1997, the service garage was built, and in 2005, the vehicle storage facility was established. Buckwheat Express has received numerous awards for excellence in service, vehicle maintenance, and employees. We take great pride in offering a service that is safe, clean, and reliable. |
